More than 1 mln Sarawakians have gotten first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, Sarawak has highest vaccination total in Malaysia

KUCHING, June 30: More than one million Sarawakians have received their first Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday as Sarawak ranked the first in Malaysia in terms of number of people vaccinated with the first dose.

According to a chart from the Special Committee on Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), 1.03 million people in Sarawak have been vaccinated with the first dose which represents 36.6 per cent of the State’s population.


Following closely behind Sarawak is Kuala Lumpur which has 988,698 people vaccinated with the first dose which represented 55.7 per cent of its population and Selangor which has 914,648 people jabbed with the first dose or 14 per cent of its population.

The committee said there were 246,259 people in Sarawak who had completed their second vaccination dose which represented 8.7 per cent of the State’s population.

There were were a total of 44,172 Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in Sarawak yesterday.

Meanwhile, 5.6 million people in Malaysia have been vaccinated with their first vaccine dose, representing 17.2 per cent of the population and 2.2 million people have completed the second dose or 6.8 per cent of the population.

In total, 7.82 million people in Malaysia have been administered with two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine as of June 29. — DayakDaily
