MoH identifies 4 new clusters of Covid-19, 2 from Sarawak

KUCHING, July 17: The Ministry of Health has identified four new clusters of Covid-19 today.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a press statement said the clusters are the Jupiter cluster from the crew members of water tanker liquefied natural gas (LNG) Jupiter in Bintulu, Kuching medical centre cluster, Pitakwa person-under investigation (PUI) cluster and the Shirala PUI cluster.

He stated that the Jupiter cluster and the Kuching medical centre cluster were from Sarawak.

He added that the Jupiter cluster was identified following two crew members of the ship who were foreigners on LNG Jupiter that were close contact of case 8,723, who was tested positive on July 13.

As for the Kuching medical centre cluster, he said the patient was a close contact to case 8,734 who was a healthcare worker at a private hospital.

For the Pitakwa PUI cluster which was detected in Terengganu, he said they were family members, the wife and the child of an imported case who returned back from Nigeria recently and was reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

For the Shirala PUI cluster in Kuala Lumpur, he said the cluster was a close contact to case 8,730 which involved a foreigner.

He recalled that the index case of the Shirala PUI cluster is an expatriate who arrived in Malaysia on July 6. —DayakDaily
