MoH identifies 4 new clusters of Covid-19 in Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 29: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has identified four new clusters of Covid-19 in Malaysia today.

Health director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a press statement said the clusters were Sungai Mulia construction site Cluster, Batu Lima Cluster, Yayasan Cluster and the Hilir Cluster.


He said the Sungai Mulia construction site Cluster involved the Titiwangsa district in Kuala Lumpur where 23 positive cases of Covid-19 were detected as a result of health screening of 124 individuals at a construction site.

As for the Batu Lima Cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Dr Noor Hisham said the index case, case 50,994 was tested positive on November 19 from symptomatic screening. Contact tracing and active case detection involved 118 individuals of which 49 individuals were tested positive.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said the index case of Yayasan Cluster in Klang, Selangor, case 52,340 was also identified from health screening of symptomatic individuals. A total of 190 individuals underwent Covid-19 swab test whereby 21 cases were identified from the cluster.

As for the Hilir Cluster, Dr Noor Hisham said it involved the Kota, Bharu, Tumpat, Bachok, and Pasir Puteh districts in Kelantan. The index case, case 58,845 was tested positive on November 24 from health screening of symptomatic individuals. 975 individuals were screened for Covid-19 whereby 21 cases were positive in the cluster. — DayakDaily
