In the statement, Sudin said that the activity was not just to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri but also the friendship and mutual respect among the different races.

At the same time, Wee said the invitation by the village to the association not only demonstrates friendship but will also strengthen the existing relationship that has been nurtured.

“This is a unique and enduring tradition in Sarawak and is believed to be a good example for the rest of Malaysia,” said Wee.

He also stressed that the relationship of mutual assistance, cooperation, and harmonious living between the Qing Shan Temple and the residents of Kampung Muara Tebas, as well as the multi-ethnic communities in the area, over the years reflects racial harmony and peaceful coexistence in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
