KUCHING, Sept 18: The Bombardier CL-415 has arrived to help out in water bombing the forest and peat fires in Sri Aman.
Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), in a statement today, said the aircraft took off from Miri at 9.15am.
First Admiral Robert Teh Geok Chuan, who is also the operations commander, said the aircraft will start their firefighting operations after a briefing with Fire and Rescue Department at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in Kuching.
“We were informed that the area of fire is 202 hectares but so far, only 51 hectares have been successfully put out,” he said.
He also urged the public not to aggravate the situation by making open burning. This operation will be performed until the entire area of fire is extinguished. — DayakDaily
