MIRI, April 26: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained a tug boat with four Indonesian crews and seized 5,000 litres of diesel during a raid off Kuala Baram on Thursday.

The boat was detained at 9.10pm, some five nautical miles off the Kuala Baram coast, said Miri MMEA enforcement chief Capt Mohd Fauzi Othman.

“During the raid, the team detained four Indonesian crews including a skipper, all aged between 23 and 30 years old,” he said, adding that the boat had no proper documentation from Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) for the transported diesel.

The vessel was immediately towed to Miri shores for further investigation, he added.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for unlawful possession of controlled articles. — DayakDaily
