KUCHING, May 7: Two schools in Dalat received a significant boost in educational support with a RM300,000 contribution from Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, through its ‘Bestari Outreach’ programme.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Kut Tengah and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Cina Poi Yuk were the main beneficiaries of this year’s programme, which aims to improve the quality of education in rural areas.
The donation handover ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing and Dalat assemblywoman Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah.
“This contribution is very meaningful in strengthening the educational infrastructure in rural areas.
“I am confident that it will have a positive impact on student achievement and teacher morale,” she said in her speech.
The funds will go toward renovation works and the provision of essential educational tools, including smart TVs, tables, chairs, public address systems, solar lighting, and various learning aids.
MLNG group managing director and CEO, Mohamed Syazwan Abdullah@Laga Jenggi, said the initiative reflects MLNG’s ongoing commitment to empowering local communities and improving access to quality education.
“We believe that by providing better facilities, it can spark a higher spirit of learning among rural students,” he said. – DayakDaily
