TANJUNG MANIS, Jan 5: A 65-year-old man was found alive by rescuers this morning after he was reported as lost in the jungle.

Mohamad Rosli from Kampung Serdeng left his house at about 3pm yesterday to enter the jungle to look for rattan near SK Serdeng.

As he failed to return by night, his family members lodged a missing person report.

Tanjung Manis fire station received the emergency call at 8.40pm.

Today’s search and rescue operation led by Tanjung Manis fire station chief PBT II Khairul Basri Sulaiman started at 7.30am with nine firefighters and some 50 villagers.

A statement from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said rescuers successfully found Mohamad at 8.15am, located some 800 metres away from their control post.

Although the victim was in weak condition, he insisted he could walk back to the control post accompanied by the rescuers.

He was later sent to the Tanjung Manis health clinic for a check-up. — DayakDaily
