PADAWAN, May 30: A search for a missing man in Kampung Sira ended on a light-hearted note early this morning when the individual was found fast asleep beside a washing machine at a neighbour’s house, drawing both relief and laughter from villagers and rescuers alike.
The Fire and Rescue Department Siburan station was alerted to the incident at about 4.40am today, and a team of firefighters led by PBK I Mohamad Ismail was deployed to the scene, where they gathered information while awaiting police assistance.
The man was reported missing after attending a wedding at St Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
According to initial information, he had left the event after dining and was later unable to be located, prompting concern among family members.
Family members and villagers quickly mobilised search efforts in the surrounding area as uncertainty grew over his whereabouts.
However, the situation took an unexpected and humorous turn when villagers eventually discovered the man at around 6am, peacefully asleep beside a washing machine at a nearby neighbour’s house.
He was found safe and unharmed, much to the relief of those involved in the search.
After confirming his condition, rescue personnel ended their operation and returned to the station. — DayakDaily
