Missing man in Kota Samarahan found

KUCHING, Feb 4: A 51-year-old man who was reported to be missing while looking for rattan wood nearby Jalan Meranek forest in Kota Samarahan was found safe today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement today, said the victim was found by the search and rescue (SAR) parties at about 11.51 am.

“The victim was found about 500 meters from the Bomba SAR operation control centre, and was brought to the nearby health clinic for further medical treatment,” it said.


According to the statement, the victim, Hadi B. Bayan, was reported to be missing by his brother-in-law after receiving a phone call from the victim informing that he was lost in the jungle while searching for rattan woods on Feb 3.

“An initial search effort was conducted by the local villagers but failed to locate the victim, and the brother-in-law contacted Bomba to request assistance in order to locate the victim,” it added. – DayakDaily.
