Missing man found dead in Murum river

KUCHING, June 14: Searchers have recovered the body of a man in his 50s who was reported missing after falling into Murum River, Belaga.

The deceased was reported to have fallen into the river before disappearing from sight yesterday around 2.25pm.


The police were informed and a Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) team deployed to the scene to conduct a search and rescue operation.

According to a Bomba report, the missing man was discovered dead by villagers at 11.30am today, 200 metres away from the site where the deceased fell into the river.

The man was later pronounced dead by search and rescue team and his remains handed over to the police for further action.

The search and rescue operation was officially ended at 1.15pm. — DayakDaily
