SIBU, June 14: An Indian man who was reported missing has been found safe and sound, after nearly seven years to the day.

His disappearance was first reported when his family in India contacted the Indian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in search of his whereabouts on June 15, 2015, with his last known location being tracked to Sibu Airport on June 3, 2015 by the police.

The missing man, identified as Sushil Singh, 27, was successfully tracked down when the case investigating officer was contacted by an informant who stated the whereabouts of the man.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said, acting on information received, revealed that a team from the Sibujaya Police Station had managed to track down the Indian national.

“The results of the examination and review found that the man is the same individual as reported,” he said today.

Following that, he said the Sibu police informed the Indian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on the finding, which they then conveyed to his family members in India.

“Our investigation revealed that the man is already married to a local woman in Sibu,” he added.

It is understood that the man is working as a laborer here.

The police here have made various efforts to track him by publicising the case through media releases including the Sibu police Facebook page after he disappeared seven years ago. ā€” DayakDaily
