Missing Dutch tourist found drowned

KUCHING, July 13: Missing Dutch tourist Peter Hoverkamp is found drowned in Mulu National Park.

Malaysian tour guide Roviezal Robin who was reported missing with Hoverkamp yesterday still cannot be located.

Hoverkamp, 66, and Roviezal, 20, were said to have gone missing in the Deer Cave of Mulu National Park on July 12 due to flash flood.

According to Mulu’s search and rescue (SAR) team, Hoverkamp was found inside the Deer cave around 7 am this morning.

SAR team from Fire and Rescue department (Bomba) consisting of firefighters including Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team of Malaysia (STORM) and Special Air Services (PASKUB) have been deployed to Mulu this morning.

Hoverkamp and Roviezal were reported missing by the Mulu police at 6 pm yesterday while another eight tourists were reported safe.

Due to the far and remote location, Bomba could only mobilise its SAR team this morning.

SAR operation is still on going to look for Roviezal.— DayakDaily
