KAPIT, Jan 24: A 70-year-old woman, who had gone missing after venturing into a farm near Rh Samon in Nanga Entalawan on Monday to collect produce, has been found safe with only blisters on both feet.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak reported that the septuagenarian was located by Land and Survey Department officers about one kilometre from the main road.

When found, the elderly woman was conscious and had not sustained any major injuries.

Bomba Sarawak responded to an emergency at 8am today and immediately mobilised a team of firefighters from the Kapit station to the location.

According to the longhouse residents, the elderly woman has ventured into the farm by taking a longboat on Monday morning but had not returned home until today, prompting a search and rescue (SAR) operation to be launched.

The SAR operation involved teams of firefighters, police personnel, Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel, and longhouse villagers with one team covering the river and the second conducting a search of hilly areas within a one kilometre radius.

Upon discovery of the woman, the SAR team immediately trekked to the location. Given the blisters on her feet and challenges of deploying a stretcher in the forest landscape, she was piggybacked out and handed over to the police for futher action.

The SAR operation concluded at 7pm. — DayakDaily
