Missing 4WD driver safe after vehicle plunges into floodwaters in Sibu

SIBU, Feb 1: Wong Sing Ang, who was missing following an incident whereby his four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle was submerged in floodwaters, is safe.

According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Wong came to the Sungai Merah station at 11am today and explained that he was by himself when he was driving the vehicle and that he had managed to escape unharmed.

Earlier today, it was reported that a search was underway to locate Wong after his 4WD was found submerged in floodwaters along Jalan Ling Kai Cheng.

Bomba received an emergency call about the incident at 12.12am and deployed personnel from the Sungai Merah station.

During the operation, the search and rescue (SAR) team found a bag containing Wong’s identification documents, but they were unable to locate him.

Attempts were made, but due to the murky water and other obstructions, they were unable to continue the operation, which had to be halted and was expected to resume later today. — DayakDaily
