KUCHING, May 10: The Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) has decided to allow the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration to be celebrated on the first day only after assessing the latest Covid-19 situation in Sarawak.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said MIS has decided to make amendments to the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the prevention of Covid-19 for Hari Raya Aidilfitri to be allowed on the first day only with visitors limited to close family members.
It added visitation is also restricted to 50 per cent capacity in accordance with the size of the houses with adherence to physical distancing.
The committee added the details of the SOP can also be obtained at the website of MIS at http://www.mis.sarawak.gov.my
Earlier on May 5, the council had said the Hari Raya Aidifitri celebration in Sarawak, which is under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) was limited to the first three days.
In the meantime, Sarawak today registered 649 cases of Covid-19 and two deaths. — DayakDaily
