Miri woman hospitalised after brutal assault, robbery

MIRI, Nov 6: A 26-year-old woman was brutally attacked and robbed at a traffic light intersection near Permymall here during the wee hours of Tuesday (Nov 5).

The victim was riding alone on her motorcycle when the incident happened around 3.30am.


According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the victim was attacked by three suspects who later fled the scene in a white Proton Wira.

“She was approached while at the traffic light intersection by a car with the suspects inside. One of them grabbed her handbag while another man came out from the car and began to attack the victim, including kicking her,” said Lim.

The woman is currently being treated at Miri Hospital.

Prior to the incident, the victim was on her way back to Permyjaya from Vista Perdana.

The victim’s bag contained RM70 in cash besides essential documents such as her MyKad and driving licence.

Police are currently on the hunt for the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for robbery. — DayakDaily
