KUCHING, March 4: The Miri District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) is waiting for approval from the Ministry of Health (MOH) to build a semi-permanent field hospital to face the possible increase of Covid-19 cases in the district.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, the minister in charge of Miri DDMC, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, said the proposed 100-bed semi-permanent field hospital aims to reduce the congestion that Miri Hospital may face as it is a referral hospital for Limbang, Lawas, and Marudi.

Lee, who is also Transport Minister and Senadin assemblyman, explained that the field hospital would provide facilities to help monitor the condition of Covid-19 patients, especially those in Categories 3 and 4, as well as separating Covid-19 patients from regular patients. ― DayakDaily
