MIRI, Dec 24: The Miri Sentral Bus Terminal, located along the Miri Bypass, will officially begin operations on Jan 18, 2025, replacing the Pujut Bus Terminal, which is scheduled to cease operations on Jan 17, 2025.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), this project is the result of collaboration between the Sarawak government, the Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS), and the Miri City Council (MCC).
Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang stated that the opening of this new terminal is a significant step in improving the public transportation infrastructure in Miri.
“The terminal will operate daily from 5am to 11pm and is equipped with various modern facilities to meet user needs,” he reportedly said in a media statement yesterday (Dec 23).
The facilities include 12 ticket counters, 12 retail shops, 14 bus platforms, two cafes, a spacious and comfortable waiting area, and user-friendly public restrooms to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
Yii further added that the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal will serve as a central hub for long-distance buses, local buses, taxis, and e-hailing services, providing an enhanced transportation experience for locals and tourists alike.
“This terminal is expected to play a key role in strengthening the transportation network, supporting economic development, and improving community mobility,” he added. – DayakDaily
