MIRI, May 23: Concerned with the possibility of a second and third wave of Covid-19 outbreak, the Miri City Council (MCC) on Saturday has embarked on an awareness campaign on the matter.
As such, MCC has collaborated with three local business organisations here, involving the Dewan Usahawan Bumiputra Sarawak (DUBS), Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) and Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) .
Miri Mayor Adam Yii said in line with the efforts, a total of 20 banners on ‘Say no to 2nd and 3rd wave Covid-19’ awareness campaign had been handed over and sponsored by DUBS, MCCI and DCCI to MCC.
The banners are to be placed at various strategic locations across Miri city.
Yii described the involvement of the three Chambers of Commerce as most relevant and an indication that the business community was taking a very serious view of the severe negative impact of Covid-9 on business activities due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Yii reminded the people to be alert and aware of the dangers of a second and third wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
“Please continue to strictly maintain the MCO’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of wearing face masks, hand sanitising and washing, social distancing, stay home and stay safe,” he concluded. – DayakDaily
