MIRI, March 21: Two local men in their 30s and 40s were arrested for alleged involvement in illegal moneylending activities.
The duo was nabbed on Tuesday (March 19) around 11am.
Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the arrests were made under ‘Ops Vulture’ and involved Miri Commercial Criminal Investigation Department.
“These suspects were found to be actively collecting debts from individuals using unethical and illegal tactics,” he said.
Both are currently remanded for two days to facilitate the police investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951. — DayakDaily
