MIRI, Feb 16: Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained three local men this afternoon for alleged involvement in a gang robbery which occured yesterday morning at Taman Ceria Permyjaya here.
All three suspects aged 23, 25 and 32 respectively were picked up from a quadruplex unit in Permyjaya around 1.30pm.
Also seized were three machetes and a stolen mobile phone.
Yesterday around 1.45am, a man was allegedly attacked and robbed by the suspects while on his way back home.
The victim who was riding a motorcycle was cornered and surrounded by the suspects on two motorcycles.
The suspects are believed to have attacked the victim and taken away his mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
A police report on the incident was later lodged.
The case is being investigated under Section 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery. — DayakDaily
