Miri police chief vows to increase efforts against drugs, crime

MIRI, March 25: The city’s police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah vowed on Monday to intensify the fight against drugs and crime in Miri.

Lim disclosed this when approached by local media after attending a police assembly held in conjunction with the 212th Police Day celebration here this morning (March 25).

“For the first two month this year, we have busted four criminal groups and arrested 173 people for drug-related offences,” he said.

For drug related offences, two arrested were charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Lim added, the crime index compared to last year over the same period showed a decrease of 15 cases.

Earlier, Lim upon his arrival at Miri Police headquarters inspected a guard-of-honour by 50 officers.

At the event, he also presented certificates of appreciation to police personnel and civilians including members of the local media. — DayakDaily
