MIRI, April 28: Miri (IPD) Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been praised for their swift action in arresting a suspect in less than 24 hours after a burglary was reported at the Pelita residential area on Tuesday.
Miri City Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang on Wednesday commended the Miri CID for its efficiency in detaining the suspect.
The crime occurred in the evening when the house residents were not at home.
No injuries were reported in the incident, however the occupants reported loss of valuables amounting to RM38,000 due to the break-in.
The suspect is believed to be a drug addict and a seasoned thief.
Mayor Adam Yii in a statement reminded the general public to practise the neighbourhood watch system and to be vigilant around their neighbourhood.
“Should there be any suspicious characters found in their surroundings they should immediately notify the police as this could prevent loss of their valuables,” he concluded.
