Attracted by an advertisement for a part-time job, she reached out to an unknown individual who posed as an agent via the TikTok platform.

“The victim was later added to a Telegram group by the suspect,” Mancha revealed in a statement yesterday.

The victim was informed she had earned a commission, which was displayed on her digital account. She was also tasked with promoting products from a clothing brand.

“Believing the scheme to be legitimate, the victim transferred money in stages into bank accounts provided by the suspect, amounting to RM130,000 in total,” he added.

She realised that she had been scammed when the suspect demanded additional payments to withdraw the purported commissions.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for fraud. –DayakDaily
