Miri experiences three separate bushfires in one day

KUCHING, Aug 11: A spate of bushfires in the northern region of the state kept state firefighters busy today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel were called to put out a fire on 0.5 acres of vacant land beside the road in Lutong at 8.15am. The fire managed to be put out before it spread.


At 1.32pm, Bomba was called out to Lutong again where 0.3 acres of vacant land was on fire. The firefighters managed to put out the fire by using a 100-feet long hose and water nozzle.

A couple of hours later at 3.19pm, the firefighters rushed to Jalan Kuala Baram Lama, Miri to put out a fire on 0.5 acres of vacant land opposite a building.

The firefighters managed to douse the flames at 3.40pm before returning to their fire station after securing the location. — DayakDaily
