KUCHING, Aug 11: Two house break-in suspects, aged 41 and 33 respectively, were arrested after they failed to shake off the police in pursuit at Taman Medang Gayam, Kota Samarahan yesterday.

Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) police personnel who were on patrol grew suspicious after spotting a car parked in front of a supermarket at Kota Samarahan at 6.50pm.

According to a statement from Kota Samarahan District Police Chief, DSP Sudirman Kram, when the police approached the vehicle to check, the suspects immediately fled the scene. Police gave chase as the suspects headed towards Taman Medang Gayam, with a second MPV unit also responding.

Facing a dead end in the road, the suspects reversed their car, but in their haste, the suspects’ vehicle hit one of the MPV units. However, the chase continued before the suspects crashed into a ground barrier and subsequently lost control of their vehicle.

The two suspects in the car attempted to escape into the bushes beside the road. Not long after, the police managed to locate and arrest them.

Upon searching the first suspect who also drove the getaway car, police discovered a total of 22 different car keys. Two T-shape modified keys and four T-shape keys were found on the second suspect.

The car used by the two suspects was reported as stolen in Bintulu on Aug 4. A range of tools including a ‘doublestick’ weapon that was used by the suspects were found in it.

The first suspect had nine previous criminal records while the second suspect had 10 previous criminal records.

Both suspects were remanded and further investigations will be conducted. — DayakDaily
