KUCHING, Aug 26: The Miri Country Music Fest (MCMF) organisers have announced a special festival ticket promotion in conjunction with Indonesia’s 77th anniversary of independence, exclusively for Indonesian citizens living and working in Sarawak.

Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Raden Sigit Witjaksono emphasised that there is a large Indonesian fanbase for country music, more so with Indonesian artiste and country singer Tantowi Yahya headlining the MCMF this year.

“Indonesians will be thrilled to see a beloved singer from our home country performing in Sarawak. Attending MCMF will be a great reward and entertainment for all their hard work and sacrifice being away from their homeland,” he said in a media release today following a meeting with MCMF organisers.

With the MCMF Dirgahayu Republik Indonesia RM77 promotion, Place Borneo Sdn Bhd chief executive officer and organiser of the music festival Mona Abdul Manap hoped Indonesian friends and families in Sarawak can take some time off to have fun at MCMF and explore what Miri has to offer.

Other than Tantowi Yahya, MCMF 2022 will also feature Ramon Cedillo from Singapore, Cambodia Country Band from the United States and Cambodia, Johnny Loda Trio from Italy, UK and Thailand and more.

The festival is expected to attract 2,000 people to the event venue Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club Miri.

The MCMF Dirgahayu Republik Indonesia RM77 promotion will start tomorrow (Aug 27) to Sept 27 with the special tickets being sold only at the office of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Kuching located at Menara MAA, Lot 86 Section 53, Jalan Central Timur Kuching.
