MIRI, May 19: Miri’s 15th-anniversary as a city is yet another event this year that has to be postponed or cancelled.

Besides Miri City Day and its crystal anniversary, construction on the new Miri City Hall originally scheduled for completion by December 24 this year has also been postponed due to the movement control order (MCO).

“On behalf of Miri City Council, I would like to wish all Mirians a Happy Miri City Day, and Miri City 15th Anniversary on May 20, 2020, very unfortunately, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we have to cancel the celebration though we were very much enthusiastic and eager to celebrate the auspicious Miri City Day this year, in conjunction with the 15th Anniversary,” he stated.

Nevertheless, it is the intention of Miri City Council to celebrate Miri City’s 15th-anniversary at a later date when circumstances permit, stated Yii.—DayakDaily
