This was among the issues discussed in the mayor’s communication held at Miri City Hall earlier today.

MCC has taken preventive action by conducting tree risk assessments and monitoring periodically following two incidents involving large tree branches falling near Boulevard Commercial Centre and Wireless Walk.

“Your safety is our priority. Besides that, we have come up with alternatives to plant more tree seedlings through our tree planting programme to cover the trees we lose,” said the council in a statement today.

Meanwhile, MCC also announced the dates of the Car-Free Day campaign, which falls on June 29 and July 27 at Wireless Walk, Jalan North Yu Seng.

“This event is a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we choose to prioritise our planet over convenience.

“Let’s embrace this day as a starting point for long-term change. Let us all make a sustainable choice a habit, not just a monthly event.

“Together, we can create a healthier, greener, and more vibrant future,” it said. — DayakDaily
