Miri businessman loses RM67,000 in bogus school supplies deal

MIRI, Jan 17: A local businessman in Miri lost RM67,000 in a non-existent school supplies deal recently.
Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said a report with regard to the fraud has been lodged
on Tuesday (Jan 16) by the victim who is in his 60’s upon the realisation that the deal was bogus.
Police investigation revealed that the victim had received a call from the suspect who introduced himself as an officer from the Education Department and offered school supplies project to the victim.
The school supplies includes items such as tables, beds, chairs, and mattresses. The suspect even introduced the victim to the supplier of school equipment.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for fraud. — DayakDaily
