Miri beats Sibu with highest Covid-19 cases, 222 cases recorded statewide

KUCHING, March 13: Miri overtakes Sibu as the district with the highest number of coronavirus cases recorded today while Limbang, a Covid-19 green zone reported two cases of coronavirus.

According to a press statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, Sarawak registered 222 cases of coronavirus but no death was reported.


The cases were derived from Miri (57), Sibu (38), Kuching (29), Bintulu (25), Betong (12), Meradong (12), Julau (10), Subis (9), Kapit (7), Song (7), Samarahan (4), Saratok (2), Serian (2), Limbang (2), Bau (1), Kanowit (1), Mukah (1), Sarikei (1), Sebauh (1) and Telang Usan (1).

The additional 222 cases have increased the tally of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 12,273.

Nonetheless, SDMC said 236 Covid-19 patients throughout Sarawak recovered and were allowed to be discharged from hospitals, making the number of recoveries to 9,826 people or 80.06 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak.

In spite of that, a total of 2,313 Covid-19 patients are being treated at health facilities and low-risk quarantine centres throughout the state.

There were 222 new cases of Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) and one PUI case awaiting laboratory test results for the Covid-19 swab test.

Apart from that, 461 new Person-Under-Surveillance (PUS) registered into hotels today for quarantine.

There are 5,885 PUS who are undergoing quarantine at 92 hotels and quarantine centres while a total of 74,353 PUS have completed their quarantine duration. — DayakDaily
