KUCHING, Nov 7: Political observer Dato Peter Minos believes many voters will support Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the upcoming 12th Sarawak Election (PRN12) due to its good reputation and proven track record in administering Sarawak.
He said images and impressions are vital for all political parties whether they are with the government or the Opposition.
Minos also questioned the perception that the Opposition such as Democratic Action Party (DAP), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) have given to the public.
āGPS gives a good image of being well-led, united, reliable and capable of running and defending Sarawak.
āAny political party that does not care about its image is courting trouble with the voters who at the polling booth would ask if the party is worth their vote.”
He opined that it will be tough for DAP, PKR and PSB to gain a strong foothold over GPS in PRN12.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) was automatically dissolved on Nov 3 following the revocation of the Emergency Proclamation, paving the way for PRN12 to be held within 60 days.
The term of the DUN was supposed to expire on June 6 this year but it could not take effect due to the implementation of the Emergency (Essential Powers) (Sarawak) Ordinance 2021. ā DayakDaily
