KUCHING, Sept 3: Malaysians want the country’s name, honour and dignity to be restored from abhorrent and despicable days of corruption at high places in the last few years.

In pointing this out, political pundit Dato Peter Minos said Malaysians on all sides and of all political persuasions, including some of those in Umno, are in one kind of mood; that of anti-corruption and abuses of power by those in power following the conviction and jailing of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“Behind that mood is of course Malaysians’ deep concern and true love for their nation, that of wanting to stop corruption and criminal offenses from destroying the country and thus of seeking the nation to be saved and to rise up again and run like before,” he said in a statement today.

Minos opined that any decent and law-abiding Malaysian would have this inner feeling.

He said this is simply being human and natural.

“If and when the corrupted ones in top positions are felled by the laws and the courts, it is hoped and expected that Malaysia will have a chance to redeem itself and to rise up again for good in the political, economic as well as all other fields,” he added.

Meanwhile, the former prime minister was found guilty of misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International funds and was ordered to be jailed for 12 years and RM210 million fine for the seven charges he faced. – DayakDaily.
