Minos: Foreign investments, expertise can help Sarawak succeed

KUCHING, July 10: Sarawak needs foreign investments, skills, and expertise to be productive, effective, and successful.

In this aspect, political pundit Dato Peter Minos opined Singapore could help Sarawak to some extent because Singapore has the money and expertise, and their investment would benefit Sarawak.

“It is very good and wise that our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his delegation went to Singapore recently to talk about Sarawak’s potential and get Singaporeans to invest here,” he said in a statement today.

Minos, who is also Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman, explained that when investors come in a big way, that will create jobs and generate income for locals on top of other things.

”Singapore, as we know, is a success story, rising from almost no natural resources except the brains and expertise of its peoplehood planning and implementation by good, honest leaders.

“That by itself is something to learn from,” he added.

He pointed out that how Singapore organises and manages itself in politics and the economy is worth noting and, where necessary, emulating.

For example, he said, the way Singaporeans have used the English language to its full extent for its progress and development is an eye-opener.

“Operating one of the biggest ports in the world, creating a world-class financial and service centre including setting up one the biggest oil refineries in Asia, you cannot but give respect to the smart and hard-working Singaporeans,” he said. — DayakDaily
