Minos expects tough battle for GPS but predicts the coalition will defend its seats

Dato Peter Minos

KUCHING, Nov 4: Political observer Datuk Peter Minos predicts a tough battle for political parties during the upcoming 12th Sarawak Election (PRN12) as Malaya-based Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will go all out to win and local-based Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) will not give in.

In spite of that, he believed the ruling coalition of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will be able to perform well in PRN12 and defend its current position by informing Sarawakians what it had done and achieved for Sarawak and its people.

“Ruling GPS is ready and well-prepared but not so for opposition such DAP, PKR and PSB which have thus been demanding for the election to be held next year when emergency ends by February 2, 2022 giving some rather weird reasons and excuses.

“All things and factors considered, Sarawakians do expect that ruling GPS will do well in the election, highly speculated to win 72 DUN (Sarawak Legislative Assembly) seats out of 82.

“There are basis for this speculation as GPS is united, disciplined and had led the Sarawak government well with proven records of successes in running Sarawak,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Minos noted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had yesterday (Nov 3) assented to lift the Sarawak’s Emergency which was earlier scheduled to expire on February 2 next year.

The move caused DUN to be automatically dissolved, paving the way for PRN12 to be held within 60 days. — DayakDaily
