KUCHING, Jan 2: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has moved to address critical operational and service issues at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and major tourist destinations, with a focus on enhancing security inspections, improving toilet hygiene, and regulating porter behaviour, as Visit Malaysia Year 2026 officially begins.
This morning, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing chaired a meeting at Hotel Sama-Sama, Sepang, highlighting the need for immediate action to boost passenger experience across the nation’s premier international gateway.
Key discussions included increasing police presence and security control measures, strengthening inspection efficiency, managing porter conduct, and improving inter-terminal connectivity.
“I have instructed all agencies involved to take prompt and decisive action to improve the overall passenger experience. KLIA should reflect the highest levels of hospitality, safety, and professionalism,” he said in a post shared on his social media.
Representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Tourism Malaysia, and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) also attended the meeting.
Tiong affirmed that the ministry will continue to closely monitor the implementation of these improvements to ensure timely and effective action.
