KUCHING, July 12: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has called for continued grassroots engagement between the government and communities to ensure policies and development projects effectively address local needs.
According to TVS, he said the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) programme served as an important platform for residents to access government services, obtain information on initiatives and provide feedback directly to relevant agencies.
“The government can formulate various policies and initiatives, but their success depends on the support and cooperation of the people.
“The Sarawakku Sayang programme carries a clear message that Sarawak’s development can only be achieved when the government and the people move forward together,” he said.
He said this at the closing ceremony of the three-day SKS programme held at Dataran Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang Phase 1 today.
Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP and Dudong assemblyman, said strengthening engagement at the grassroots level would help ensure government programmes and development plans were aligned with the needs and aspirations of local communities.
The SKS programme attracted 101,030 visitors over three days, surpassing the organisers’ initial target of more than 30,000.
The event featured 47 government agencies operating 154 service counters, alongside government exhibitions, local entrepreneur sales and community activities, providing residents with direct access to various services and information. — DayakDaily
