KUCHING, May 14: Sarawak is an exemplary state in terms of tolerance, peace, and political stability, as evidenced by the presence of visitors from diverse religious backgrounds and beliefs at various celebrations.

Asajaya assemblyman and Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah told reporters this at a press conference during a Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House for Asajaya constituency today at the Asajaya Sports Complex in Asajaya.

“This is how we are in Sarawak; we are always peaceful and stable, and this is enhanced by the celebration of diverse festivities with other races or communities during open house ceremonies.

“We are grateful that we can celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in a state of peace and prosperity, and two weeks from now, Hari Gawai celebrations will be held at every level, involving all tribes,” he said.

He asserted that the strong sense of community in Asajaya demonstrates the close unity between various races, proving the success of the programme to foster friendship between locals.

“That is why the development of Asajaya and its surrounding areas, including Sadong Jaya and Gedong, occurred so quickly as a result of allocation and planning in the development programme agenda.

Meanwhile, in his welcoming speech, Asajaya District Officer Rais Amat expressed his appreciation for the collaboration of all parties involved in making the programme a success and making a positive impact on the community. — DayakDaily
