KUCHING, May 3: A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an altercation in the middle of the road along Jalan Pending.

Kuching District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah stated that the arrest took place at the roadside near Pending Commercial Centre today.

“A urine test conducted on the suspect yielded negative results, and he has no prior criminal record.

“Currently, the suspect is locked up at the Kuching police headquarters,” he said in a statement today.

Investigation documents will promptly be forwarded to the deputy prosecutor for further proceedings.

The arrest follows a police report filed regarding a viral 20-second video showing a fight between two individuals in the middle of the road along Jalan Pending at 9am on Tuesday (April 30).

The incident is thought to have started as a result of dissatisfaction with not being given the right of way.

Yesterday (May 2), Ahsmon said the investigation was conducted under Section 323/506 of the Penal Code for causing injury and criminal threats.

If convicted, the punishment may include imprisonment, a fine, or both. — DayakDaily
