KUCHING, Aug 3: The Sarawak government will meet with the developer of Borneo Samariang Water Park, Sentoria Group Bhd (Sentoria) to understand the current situation surrounding the discontinued development of water park.
Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said from his observation, the project was stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I am not too sure what is happening to that place, but we are going to have a visit to ask them on what is happened,” he told a press conference held at Baitulmakmur building 2, here today.
Asked if the Sarawak government will bail out the project, Abdul Karim said since it is a private initiative, Sarawak government will look into the matter.
“It will bankrupt the government if it is to bail out (incomplete projects) all the time.
“But we would want to see what is the problem that led to the project not being able to be completed,” he added.
In May this year, Abdul Karim said the Sarawak government has no immediate plans to take over Borneo Samariang Water Park near Petra Jaya. — DayakDaily
