KUCHING, July 26: Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Seri Tiong King Sing has proposed to the Governor of Gansu Province, Ren Zhenhe, that Malaysia and China collaborate in areas such as herbal medicine, medical technology, and academic exchange.
In a Facebook post, Tiong said this reflected the growing interest in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in both countries.
“Governor Ren also welcomed Malaysian cultural tourism and healthcare enterprises to visit Gansu and assured that Gansu will send more delegations to promote in Malaysia as well,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tiong, who is also the assemblyman for Dudong and MP for Bintulu, said Ren has shared that Gansu is one of the cradles of Chinese civilisation and is home to seven UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites, including the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang and Maijishan Grottoes.
He added that with direct flights resumed between Lanzhou and Kuala Lumpur, ties between both regions are set to strengthen, which will deepen cooperation in cultural tourism promotion and complementary industries.
“This visit to Gansu clearly highlights the vast potential of regional cooperation. I am confident that as long as we continue to promote exchanges between Malaysia and China in the spirit of mutual trust and mutual benefit, we can create new and meaningful chapters in cultural tourism, traditional medicine, and people-to-people connectivity,” said Tiong. — DayakDaily
