KUCHING, Feb 22: Negotiations on the formula for the special grant under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution, via the Technical Committee Meeting on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), are expected to be held before the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
According to Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, the meeting will be crucial in detailing and refining the proposed formula submitted to the federal government.
“The original date had been set but was postponed, and it is now expected to take place before Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” she said while officiating at the Sukma Ria Ramadan Bazaar here on Saturday (Feb 21), as reported by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
The Samariang assemblywoman further emphasised that no decision has been made regarding the formula.
On Feb 13, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg said that Sarawak has proposed a formula under which approximately 20 per cent of the State’s tax revenue would be channelled back as the special grant under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution. — DayakDaily
