Minister lauds Bonnie Bunyau Gustin for setting new world record at Paris Paralympics

KUCHING, Sept 7: Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah has praised Bonnie Bunyau Gustin for doing Sarawak proud and setting a new world record at the Paris Paralympics.

Fatimah in a statement today said she has personally sent a congratulatory message to Bonnie through WhatsApp.

“We Sarawakians, especially the Para Sukma team Sarawak, are very happy for him for achieving his target to beat his own previous world record by lifting 232 kg and set new World Record at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games,” she said.

She added that Sarawakians are also very proud of his achievement, which has brought glory to Sarawak and Malaysia.

“His achievement will be an inspiration and motivation to our para athletes to train hard for the Para Sukma games, do well, beat their own record and be a champion,” she added.

Yesterday (Sept 6), Bonnie set a new world record by lifting 232kg in the men’s 72kg final at the Paris Paralympics, securing Malaysia’s second gold medal. — DayakDaily
