KUCHING, June 22: Students from B40 families are offered full scholarships for the Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary Schools by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak.

According to MEITD Minister Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, the scholarship is crucial in ensuring that students’ educational journeys are not affected by financial constraints.

Meanwhile, a minimal fee will be charged for students from the M40 and T40 groups.

“Students, especially from the B40 and M40 income brackets, now have the opportunity to obtain globally recognised qualifications,” said Sagah during his speech at the Sarawak Education Award Ceremony 2024 at the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) convention centre, Kuching, today.

He said that so far, two schools are operating under the Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary Schools, located in Petra Jaya and on Mile 12 of Kuching-Serian Road, whereas another school in Sibu is expected to be completed and operational in 2026.

Two more schools under the Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary Schools, to be located in Miri and Bintulu, are currently in the planning stages.

“This initiative (full scholarship for B40 students) ensures that all our children, regardless of their economic background, have access to high-quality education and the opportunity to excel on a global stage,” he said. — DayakDaily
