KUCHING, Sept 25: Assistance from the Sarawak Department of Agriculture must be given out as targeted incentives, says Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.
The Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Sarawak (M-FICORD) said the incentives should not be the same for villages or longhouses that apply for it.
“If a village has 100 people, three villagers should be given different incentives.
“That is why there are different aids, and we have to be specific in giving incentives,” he said during the 1st International Conference on Biotechnology, Smart Farming, and Entrepreneurship for Food Security (BioSFE) 2023 held at Riverside Majestic Hotel today.
Dr Rundi also reminded his officers, especially from the Department of Agriculture, that they should not be doing ‘business as usual’.
Instead, he added, rather than just imparting knowledge and technology, they must go to the ground and look at the situation themselves. — DayakDaily
