Military ops realignment at S’wak-Kalimantan border to be carried out, S’wak govt allocates RM11mil to boost security control

KUCHING, March 10: The realignment of military operations involving the Sarawak and Kalimantan borders will be carried out, says Commander of the 1st Infantry Division (1 Div) Major General Datuk Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz.

According to TVS, he said it will involve operations carried out on the borders and waters in this region, as well as security in the South China Sea.

He said this after a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Regarding the courtesy call, Khairul explained that among the matters discussed were new allocations to the military, including sophisticated technology to strengthen security control at the border.

“The Sarawak government has allocated RM11 million to assist in this operation, including the provision of drones and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipment to be used at the border between Sarawak and Kalimantan,” he said.

At the same time, he thanked the Sarawak government for the support given in improving national security, especially in the border areas. — DayakDaily
