MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm, heavy rain and heavy wind alerts for nine districts in Sarawak

KUCHING March 19: Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued thunderstorm, heavy rain and heavy wind alerts for nine districts in Sarawak today.

According to a MetMalaysia Facebook post at 6.15 pm today, the affected districts are Serian, Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Kapit (Song), Miri, Marudi and Limbang.

According to the department, the warnings are issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour which is expected to occur for close to or more than an hour.

It added a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
