KUCHING, Aug 23: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for parts of Sarawak until nightfall today.
Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Betong (Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Kapit (Song), Bintulu (Sebauh), Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi), and Limbang.
The warning, which was issued at 5pm today, will remain in effect until 9pm.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
