MetMalaysia: Continuous rain to sweep through several areas in S’wak for 2 days, notice valid until Jan 17

KUCHING, Jan 15: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a continuous rain warning (alert) for various areas in Sarawak for the next two days (Jan 16 and 17).

Continuous rain is expected in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Sibu) and Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Dalat). The warning, issued at 1.30pm today, remains in effect until Wednesday (Jan 17).

“Continuous Rain Warning (Danger) is issued when there are signs indicating that continuous heavy rain is expected to occur with the amount of rain exceeding 150 mm within 24 hours.


“Continuous Rain Warning (Bad) is issued when there are signs indicating that continuous heavy rain is expected to occur with the amount of rain exceeding 60 mm within six hours.

“Continuous Rain Warning (Alert) is issued when there are signs that rain/thunderstorms are expected to occur for more than six hours in that period in an area,” it said. — DayakDaily
